Tenma Yato (天魔・夜刀) is the main antagonist of Kajiri Kamui Kagura for a large part of the story. He is the leader of the Yatsukahagi, and controls all of Edo as his territory.
Appearance[]
Tenma Yato possesses shoulder length red hair, along with his eyes' matching red iris and gray "whites", and his gray, almost black skin. He wears white robes similar in appearance to those of Kichi and a two-headed serpent, furthering the resemblance.

Tenma Yato was originally Ren Fujii, the main character of Dies Irae who, after the events of Marie's route, was serving as one of the three guardians of the Fifth Heaven, alongside Reinhard Heydrich and Mercurius.
Battle against The Sixth Heaven
He is the only one of the Gods to have survived the onslaught of the Sixth Heaven. If he hadn't stopped time in Edo and prevented the completion of the Sixth Heaven's Law, the whole world would have gone extinct due to the new law that had been in place at that moment. Most of his friends survived to the next world due to becoming Pseudo Gods, now a part of his legion (though unlike Reinhard's legion, his is based on friendship, which him to share his own power, notably Time Armor, with them). The Yatsukahagi slaughtered the previous Eastern Expedition, sent 300 years before the events of Kajiri Kamui Kagura, with only a few survivors returning. It is from the information of those survivors that the name Yatsukahagi was given to them, as well as their Tenma titles.
Kajiri Kamui Kagura[]
In the battle at Ezo, Tenma Tokoyo invoked her Taikyoku and sacrificed all of Yatsukahagi members to bring Yato back to his full power. Far more powerful than his previous self, his law of time stop started to emanate past Edo and continue to drill through a Singularity, each moment is getting closer to Hajun's Throne. He fought Habaki Sakagami, who's managed to break free of his time stop. The battle is one-sided as Habaki has no power when facing the Hegemony God. Even so, due to Tumor's Craving, Habaki cannot die. Upon realizing Habaki's nature as a Tumor, he tries to test their bond and love for others, their light of dawn that will destroy law of self-love. Eventually, Yato releases his time stop, allowing the members of the Eastern Expedition to move once again. Yato then launches his final most powerful attack, Habaki refuses to dodge it and come to save Rindou, rejecting the self-love of Tengudou. He uses Misogiharae - Yomotsugaeri to reflect Yato's attack. Satisfied, knowing that Yatsukahagi's battle manages to create someone that can take down Hajun, Yato accepts his death.
Appears one last time as a spirit before disappearing, he told them that by killing him, the Expedition allowing Hajun to complete his law. However, he drill through all layers of Singularity but one, and that he leave everything in their hands.

Time Armor
Yato's Taikyoku, when activated, stops time in all realms of existence. The only way to overcome it is the be equal to or stronger then Yato himself or when he got killed. Due to him focusing on it to hold back Hajun's law and the fact he is not at the Throne, he cannot use it at its full power; however, he is able to cover himself in an armor of stopped time. His time armor allowed him to resist and counter the law of Hajun(who didn't care about Yato and didn't pay attention to his existence) for 8 thousand years While wearing this armor, any and all attacks against him are completely nullified unless the attack itself is stronger then Yato. It also allows him to manipulated his own time, similiar to his Briah. Form this law,distortions spread as Numahime who is the Mother Of Distortions(minus Tenma Kessenka) have Yato as her source God.
Kamunagara[]
Yato's Kamunagara takes shape of a naga-like being covering the entirety of Edo.
Sequere Naturam[]
An ability previously used by Mercurius, but instead of condensing stars to form a supernova, Yato summon a storm of meteor akin to that of a serpent's scales. Destroy the battlefield so severely it almost impossible to measure to bottom of the pit created.
Margueritte-Bois de Justice[]
Tenma Yato has the scythes of Ren's Holy Relic coming out of his back. Possessing godly speed and destructive capability to slice a star and cut the universe.
Rain Of Blood
Once he emanates, his tears of blood, filled with his feelings, becomes an army of spiders keep multiplying, reaching thousands and even more, instantly. As the sun and the moon are his eyes, those tears ends up wherever he is looking to. In the same way, he can send Yatsukahagi members wherever he wants. By just throwing them, he creates explosions that dwarf Yakou in his colorless state.

- The chant of Margueritte - Bois de Justice is directly taken from guillotine song.
- According to the Visual FanBook of Kajiri Kamui Kagura, it has been stated by Masada that the clothes Yato wearing is actually Marie's white dress.
- The name of Yato means "Night Sword". As 夜 = Night and 刀 = Sword.
- Interestingly, his name could possibly refer to the event that happened in first part of Dies Irae, which is the mysterious murder case in Suwahara City, where victims got their head chopped by an unknown killer and it always occurring at night time.
- The name Tenma Yato is mean "Heavenly Demon of Night Sword". In Japanese Mythology, Yato no Kami are snake deities lived in Namegata county. Yato no kami were rumored to bring familial extermination on anyone who saw them.
