Kei Sakurai (櫻井 螢, Sakurai Kei?), also known by her Demon Name The Lion's Heart and Sword: Leonhard August (獅子心剣, Shishi Kokoro Ken?), is one of the main characters in Dies Irae. She is a member of the Longinus Dreizehn Orden, occupying the seat number V in the Black Round Table. She is one of the main heroines of the story and the younger sister of Kai Sakurai.
Plot[]
Before Dies Irae[]
Growing up without her parents, from a young age, Kei was raised by her brother Kai and Beatrice, being very close to both.
However, after their deaths, Valeria approached her and enlisted her into the Black Round Table as Beatrice's replacement, promising that her Kai and Beatrice could be revived when Reinhard reached Atziluth. The priest then spent the next 10 years training Kei in preparation for the Day of Wrath.

Near the end of the route, After Gladheimr has begun to manifest, Kei battles Eleonore. While Kei is initially at a disadvantage, she submits herself to Wewelsburg Longinus, giving her the power to overwhelm the Rubedo. However, her injuries are to severe and she dies soon after.

While Kei does not directly appear in the game, her and Beatrice's reincarnation, Tenma Morei, is a member of the Yatsukahagi.

Kei's holy relic is a sword covered in flames. The flames it produces are hot enough to instantly evaporate water and melt through steel.
Wewelsburg Longinus[]
As a member of the Sakurai clan, Kei is eligible to wield the sword and she gains the sword during her battle with Eleonore in Marie's Route.

Etymology[]
- The name Kei means "firefly" (螢).
- Kei's surname Sakurai means "cherry tree, cherry-blossom" (櫻) (sakura) and "well, mine shaft, pit" (井) (i).
